The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets on the third Wednesday of the month from 10:30 AM to Noon in Classroom S-1 of The Sanctuary.
Prayer shawls are created with prayers and love for God's Glory. We believe God has given us these talents to make shawls to reach out to others with a gift of love, comfort, warmth and to remind the receiver of God's abiding love. Prayer shawls are available to anyone in need and recipients do not have to be church members.
Shawls are available for pick-up on the 3rd Wednesday of each month in the Fellowship Hall from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.We present the shawls to those ill at home, in hospitals, home bound and people who have lost a loved one. We have given shawls to members of the church moving away also.
While recipients do not need to be members of our church, they must have a need. If the person receiving a shawl passes away, we pray the shawl will be passed on to another person having a need. If anybody knows of a person who could benefit from receiving a shawl, please contact any member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry or call Lorenda in the Church Office at 352-683-2600 x0. She will direct you to a member or will help you obtain a shawl and card. We ask that all recipients receive only one shawl.
We have a scrapbook kept in the Church Library in The Sanctuary with pictures of people receiving shawls plus members of the ministry.
Some members attend the Ladies in Faith Together (L.I.F.T.) Craft group in Fellowship Hall and then come over at 11 AM to S#1. New members are always WELCOME. We will teach you how to knit or crochet and provide you with yarn, needles, patterns and lots of help. The first half hour we help each other, exchange patterns or just enjoy each others' fellowship while working on our shawls.
