Prayer Ministries

The Prayer Ministries at First United Methodist Church of Spring Hill
As we experience God's power and direction in our lives through prayer, we are able to go out and be more effective in serving and expressing God's love to one another and to our community, bringing glory to Him.

If you have any questions or would like to join us in any of these ministries, please call Dennis Gomas 352.556.3131 or the Church Office 352.683.2600 ext. 0.

Jesus quoted from Isaiah 56:7
"My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations,"
when He overturned the tables of the money changers in the temple.
- Mark 11:17 NIV

The Prayer Ministries of First United Methodist Church of Spring Hill:

  • Prayer List - The Prayer List includes requests from the Prayer Cards in the pews, calls to the Church Office, or prayer requests posted on the church's web site (www.fumcsh.org). The Prayer List is available at our Welcome Center in the Lobby of The Sanctuary. We encourage church attendees to pick one up regularly to pray for the names or needs listed.

Join a group that prays for the requests from the Prayer Cards and the Prayer List and intercedes for world concerns, the church leadership, and the church and individual needs.

Telephone and E-mail Prayer Chain- When immediate prayer is needed, a prayer chain of devoted individuals is activated to pray immediately for that urgent need. Call the Church Office 352.683.2600 ext.0 to add your name to the chain. If you have an urgent need, call the Church Office Contact: Lorenda Rodriguez 352.683.2600 ext.0 or email: receptionist@fumcsh.org

  • "Sweet Hour of Prayer" - A service of worship, praise, intercession, and communion that meets each Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Sanctuary.
"Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven." - James 5:13-15 (NIV)

Following scripture's teachings, hymns are sung, praises are shared, prayer needs are brought to the Lord, communion is administered, and, for those requesting it, there is laying on of hands, anointing with oil and prayer.

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of him."
