The Pastor's Message

The Pastor's Message and Sermon Enhancer

April 28 2017

Good morning Church!

Hope you're having a great, God-filled week.

Movie Night:  Don't forget this Friday night is movie night.  We'll be showing "Moana" in the Fellowship Hall.  Hamburger, chips and beverage available for $1, popcorn free!  Bring the whole family, invite your neighbors!

Blood Mobile:  The Bloodmobile will be at church from 8 am to 1 pm this Sunday in the back parking lot.  Christ shed all of His blood for us to give us life.  May we give a pint that others might live!

National Day of Prayer:  Thursday, May 4, is the National Day of prayer.  We'll gather in the sanctuary at 7 pm to pray for our nation.  We're trying a new format this year.  Please plan to come and pray.  Our nation and the world needs God's healing.  We have a Healing, Prayer and Communion service at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary for those wishing to come to a service during the day.

Playground Help needed:  We're making some much needed improvements to our playground.  We'll be gathering from 8 am to Noon on Saturday May 13.  Something for everyone.  We'll rake up old mulch, spread weed mat, and distribute hundreds of bags of new rubber mulch. Please call the church office if you can help so we can get an idea of how many to expect.  Even if it's only an hour, every hand appreciated.

Sermon Enhancer: This week we'll continue in our Sacred Marriage series.  Beth Donaldson has ordered a couple of the books which will be available in our library soon.  Dr. Gary Thomas asks the question, "What if God designed marriage, not to make us happy, but to make us Holy"?  I'm known for saying, "Where two are more are gathered... there shall be at least three opinions..".   Marriage is hard.  But it's God's idea.  If we're truly to be Christlike, our Christian character starts at home.  This week we'll be looking at the "love chapter", 1 Corinthians 13:1-8a.  Paul tells Christians they can have all the outward characteristics of being Christ-like but if they have not love they are nothing.  Harsh!  He also says things like love is patient, kind, keeps no record of wrongs.  Hey if it was easy anyone could do it.  Every relationship will have conflict and pain.  We'll disappoint one another. The question is, "How do we handle it?"  Please read ahead and be ready for worship.  May God wash over our souls, humble us, create a hunger to be more like Him, love as He loves, forgive as He forgives.

God bless you all and thanks for being a part of our church family,

Greg
